Bangalore`s Issac Mathai is low profile holistic healer who suddenly came into the spotlight after the much published royal visit last month." I have been in India for the last seven years and was never in the news . It was only because of Sarah Ferguson`s visit which was played up by the media that i have suddenly come into the limelight", admits the 36 year old doctor. Its a light that certainly won`t fade easily. for holistic healing may not be a familiar concept at the moment, but Mathai`s alternative system of medicine still has the worlds beautiful people rushing in for more. "Holistic medicine means understanding the person as a whole - mind, body and spirit. Most illnesses are based on emotional problems and without clearing these the effect of medicines is limited," says the soft spoken homeopath. Mathai`s certainly got his finger on the emotional pulse of his clients. Which is why he`s now working on realising his dream project : an International Holistic health Center at Whitefield, 24 Km from Bangalore, where he believes "Guests will leave there worries behind and get set on the path to recovery". The center - a cross between a spa and a medical center- which is slated to open slated to open two-and-a half years from now, will be a new ager`s delight. Inspired by the experience, Mathai then organised the first International Conference on Holistic Health in India. In 1990, he set up his own Holistic healing center in Bangalore.
